WHEN SHOULD I SCHEDULE MY NEWBORN SESSION?
The best time to contact me is before you have your baby. ?The first 10 days work best to get peaceful, sleepy, and very curly poses. ?After two weeks of age, they are more likely to be disturbed while sleeping, and can also become colicky or baby acne can start to flare. ?
After 2 to 3 weeks of age the baby no longer qualifies as a newborn and I would wait until baby is at least 3 months to schedule a regular session.
WHAT IF MY BABY IS ALREADY BORN?
If your baby is already born, under 10 days of age and you wish to schedule a session, please contact me as soon as possible. ?I will certainly do my best to squeeze you in.
WHAT?S THE IDEAL AGE TO PHOTOGRAPH MY NEWBORN?
The BEST time to take newborn photos is within the first 10 days of life.
The younger the baby the better, preferably between 4-7 days old. Older newborns tend to not sleep as soundly and are a little less content (in general)
WHAT IMAGES ARE TYPCALLY CAPTURED IN A NEWBORN SESSION?
The average newborn session includes the following:
Newborn alone (we usually try for about 3 different backgrounds)
Newborn & Mom
Newborn & Dad
Newborn & Mom & Dad
If the newborn has siblings we ask that they do not come to the session until the last half hour of the session. ?This should give us ample time to photograph the baby and we save family photos until the very end.
HOW LONG IS THE AVERAGE NEWBORN SESSION?
It?s not uncommon for the session with a newborn to last 2 hours, allowing plenty of time to feed and comfort. ?All newborn sessions are done at my studio in order to control climate and to have access to all props and set-ups.
WHAT SHOULD I BRING WITH ME TO THE NEWBORN SESSION?
I recommend mostly diaper-covers, hats and headbands for a newborn session. ?Clothes generally don’t fit well at this age so we will mostly be photographing the baby naked or with a diaper cover. ?Newborn sized tutu’s are great for baby girls too. ?I have some selection in hats, headbands and diaper covers but please feel free to bring whatever you’d like!
We also ask that you bring a bottle of expressed breast milk or formula as well as a paci. ?Even if the baby hasn’t taken a paci it usually does the trick for the newborn session.
WHAT SHOULD I?DO TO PREPARE FOR THE NEWBORN SESSION?
Please make sure baby is up for at least an hour before the session. ?If you are having trouble keeping them awake, try giving them a bath. ?After at least one hour of awake time, feed the baby and stick them in their car seat and head on over to the studio. This should ensure that the baby is nice and sleepy for our session. ?You can just leave them in a sleeper or onsie. ?We will be taking it off of them as soon as they get to the studio.
HOW LONG BEFORE THE IMAGES WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE?
Within 2 weeks of your session I will contact you via e-mail with information about your private ordering gallery. The gallery will contain approximately 100 edited images from your session and will be available online for 30 days. You may share your gallery password with anyone you would like and they are welcome to make orders.
